Our Story
Little Pita Co was born from my mother's story — a story of strength, resilience, community and love.
My mum grew up without a mother to guide her. She never had recipes passed down the way many women did, and she didn't have someone to teach her in the kitchen growing up. When she got married, she wanted to learn. She wanted to build a home, create warmth, and carry on the traditions she had seen around her.
So she learned the only way she could — through the women in her community. Older Bosnian women opened their kitchens, shared their knowledge, showed her their techniques, and taught her the traditional way of making pita. She watched, listened, practised and learned with her hands. Over the years, she took pieces of wisdom from each woman, shaped them with her own care, and slowly created her own way.
The pita we make today is not just food. It is the result of years of learning, patience, survival and love. It carries the hands of the women who supported my mother, the strength of a woman who taught herself, and the tradition of a culture that brings people together through food.
Little Pita Co is our way of sharing that story. Every pita is handmade with the same care my mother learned all those years ago. It is a reminder that beautiful things can come from hardship, that community can help us grow, and that recipes are not only measured in ingredients — they are measured in memories, love and the people who helped shape us.
This shop is more than a business. It is a tribute to my mum, to the women who taught her, and to the tradition we are proud to carry forward.
